Ace Hardware

So much for being the helpful hardware store. I purchased pine bark nuggets mulch from ace. They loaded the wrong mulch in my car. Did not realize it till I got home. Yesterday I took it back with the receipt. Lady at register said she had to verify what I was returning and where was my car. In the meantime I had another purchase. Now my car is by front door and the piles of mulch are at the end of parking lot.
I said to her that I would pay for the fertilizer and if someone would bring it out for me. I am an 80 year old woman and it was heavy. She refused to exchange the mulch again telling me until she verified it as she stands there with the receipt in her hand. Her attitude was such that I felt like I was being treated as a criminal. This was their mistake, not mine. Nor would she let me pay for the fertilizer because again she told me the return had to be verified.
I just wanted to pay for my purchase and have someone bring out the fertilizer , unload the 10 bags of mulch and reload the correct ones.
I never will understand her attitude . She treated me like I was trying to steal something. I left I tears. When you walk in they act like they are trying to help you, but I think it is more about watching you.
Ace may not be the place afterall

Friendly helpful associates who offer their assistance but aren't pushy. They know exactly where to find products, and don't just say "look on aisle" whatever. They take you there to make sure you're finding what you want. It's a pleasure to shop here.

Maybe it's because this store is so close to my house, but every time I go there I feel welcomed, and appreciated. I always find more than what I came in for and I always leave with more than I needed, but I'll use those items somewhere. The professionalism and assistance I get here is really important because it's given to every customer. All the Ace Hardware stores in brevard county are like that. Clean, well stocked, professional and helpful.

Very nice and large scale hardware store. The staff works hard to help you find the products you need in a timely manner. They have a fully stocked fishing tackle area as well.

Terrible customer service. Would not take a manufacture's coupon sighting coupon fraud.

I purchased a can of waterproofing spray, and it turned out I did not need it. When I went to return it, it was like the Spanish Inquisition. The cashier called a stock boy about the return, he took the can, pull off the cap and smelled it. I guess to see if I used it. He then disappeared and came back about 3 minutes later and said it was"ok".

I can only assume he weighed the can against one on the shelf. The cashier then said she could not do the return because it was purchased on my wife's bank card. The same EXACT card I had given to her. I told her it was the same and to process the refund.

All of this was done while of customer's where in line behind me. I told her, "well you have treated me like a thief, now that it's ok'ed to return, you won't take the same card it was purchased on because of the name???"

I started to get loud and she suddenly did the refund. I told everyone in line that if they wanted to be treated this, go head and make a purchase. I also told the cashier I would never be back. And I won't.

This store has some of the nicest and knowledgeable people running it and working in it. I can't go into specifics, but they went above and beyond in their help to us while preparing for Hurricane Dorian yesterday. Anytime I need anything found in Ace, I will make the drive up US1 to Titusville.

I go into ace hardware and there is a greeter at the door for questions on finding where things are.
I mostly go in to find the right size screw or bolt for something and bring one in to compare.
They are always so nice and by the time I get to that department the worker is already there. One time it took us 20 minutes to find a match and not one sign of aggravation.
I have been there 6 times so far (twice wasn't for screws lol) and I have yet to return something because it was the wrong size or item. The workers really know what they are talking about.
I will visit ACE over home depot or lowes any day kust for the service alone!

The "Helpful Hardware" ?? Not on this visit.
Presented a clear coupon which the failed to honor citing a bunch of fraudulent bunk to cover up their slothful, rude and hateful conduct.
Then to boot the so called supervisor issues a sarcastic insult to the customer on their departure.
Systemic disrespect in their lame attempt to create good will with the community.
Direct violation of the Uniform Commercial Code.
Gee I wonder if their dopey jingle could be considered false advertising?

We went to Ace to purchase some Stihl power yard equipment, including the KombiMotor and several attachments. There was one hanging on the rack for anyone to handle, as well as several attachments. I'd asked about a manual, to which he said "I think we have some in the back". I'd asked for a boxed unit for the motor & attachments, to which the clerk replied "Stihl doesn't work that way, you just take the one here".

I was blown away at that answer - I'm basically buying a display unit, handled by who knows how many people - at full price. I called him out on this by asking "how many people have handled this?!" to which he replied "just me". Oh really? I asked "so no customers have ever handled this, dropped it, etc.??" to which he said "oh, I don't know". At that point I'd had enough & said "we're done here". If that's how Stihl does business, I want no part of it.

I wrote to Stihl and Ace to complain about this and the answers I got were very different from what I was told from the clerk. None of their products come in boxes. Upon purchase, the unit is gassed up, started, & if needed, tuned up. The customer is then given a short course on the use and safe operation of the product. The customer is then provided with tools, spare parts, and a manual.

The manager, "Michael", then contacted me via email & said he'd call me to speak to me personally. I'd asked that he call after 6PM. We never received a call. I wrote him & told him that at this point, we're going elsewhere. We basically got a "sorry" and that the clerk would be retrained in Stihl procedures.

All too often, companies are right there to take your money. It's when you experience a problem that they show their true colors. We're basically done with Ace. Too many other choices out there.

This store is a very complete, chain hardware store. It is larger than most "Ace Hardware" stores. It is not a specialty hardware store. Unlike some stores that only sell prepackaged items, you can buy only the quantity you need. Staff is very helpful. I'm always satisfied with their service and selection (understanding, once again this is not a specialty store).
