Education Committee
Next meeting - March 11, 2016, 8:30am

Chair: Deb Blair

The Education Committee held it’s monthly meeting on February 12, 2016.  Topics for discussion were:

PITBOE:  The PITBOE luncheon was held at LaCita on February 10, 2016, and was a huge success.  There were 48 businesses nominated by our local schools.  These businesses have each contributed to the schools in various ways throughout the year and were recognized with lunch and a plaque.  There were so many honorees that the committee is considering a larger venue for next year.

OYA:  Applications for the OYA $1000.00 scholarship have been mailed out to the students.  Each student is asked to describe where they see themselves in 10 years.  The essay is to be 500 words or less.  Completed applications are to be returned by March 31st and a special committee will select the winner on April 8, 2016.  Learn more about our current Outstanding Young Adults.

The Education Committee's mission is to serve as a catalyst for the development and delivery of community based education and related activities.  At the monthly Chamber luncheons, the Education Committee recognizes Outstanding Young Adults from area high schools, along with recognizing Partners in the Business of Education during the year.  They host a Job and Career Fair in the spring.  The committee is also working on a Business Speakers Bureau for the North Brevard School District.  Meetings: Second Friday of each month – 8:30 a.m.

Governmental Affairs Committee
Next meeting - March 17, 2016, 8:00am

During our most recent Governmental Affairs Committee meeting the committee discussed the recently release “Talking Points” from the City of Titusville. This list includes updates on ongoing projects happening in and around our city. This is their most recent publication written to keep the public informed on the many good things that are happening.

Each year the Governmental Affairs Committee prepares a Legislative Agenda. After being approved by our Board of Directors, it is sent to our elected officials at the local, county , state and federal levels. The process has begun to prepare the 2016 Legislative Agenda. During this process an email will be sent to all members enabling them to have input in this process.

As part of our real estate market update, we were told that residential rentals are very hard to find in North Brevard. Residential sales remain strong and new construction is limited.

2016 will bring many changes to our representatives at all levels of government. This committee will be planning several events to bring candidates to the voters to keep everyone aware and informed before any votes are cast.

Please join us at our next meeting on March 17th, here at the chamber office.

The Governmental Affairs committee discusses any issues that affect businesses and residents of the state of Florida.  Meetings: Third Thursday of each month – 8:00 a.m.

Membership Development Committee
Next meeting - March 8, 2016, 8:30am

Chair: Donna Trantham

The Membership Development Committee will provides volunteer support at Chamber events and helps mentor and educate new members on the many benefits of membership.

We are always actively seeking new members.  If you would like to volunteer your time and talent to this committee, please contact Dennis Watkins at or plan to attend our next meeting on March 8th. This committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8:30am in the Chamber Boardroom.

The Membership Development Committee is an integral part of the Chamber make-up and provides volunteer support at ribbon cuttings, monthly and special Chamber events. They help mentor new Chamber Members, educating them on the many benefits of membership, as well as introducing the newest additions of our snapper family to key contacts at events.  A terrific benefit is the tremendous promotional opportunity it presents for Ambassadors to speak about their own organizations in the process.  Meetings: Second Tuesday of each month – 8:30 a.m.
